What an invoice should carry
Invoice requirements vary by country, but most ask for the same core details: your business name and registration number, your client's details, a unique invoice number, the date, a description of the goods or services, the amount, any tax, and the payment terms. If you are registered for VAT or sales tax, check the extra details your tax authority asks for.
Payment terms that get you paid faster
Net 30 is the default for many businesses, but there's no reason you can't use Net 14 or even Net 7 for smaller amounts or newer clients. The payment terms on your invoice are agreed when you agree the contract: by the time you send an invoice, they should already be settled.
Put your bank details where they can't be missed. Make it as easy as possible for clients to pay you. Any friction in the payment process costs you days.
